While I have a creative mind, my passion for learning about art outweighs my drive to create it. I have had the opportunity to travel extensively and have had the chance to learn about some of the most recognizable sculptures around the world by seeing them in person. This has inspired me to continue learning about art, and spreading that knowledge about particular sculptures has become what I am passionate about.
Beyond the Museum is a fictional organization that has created a series of tools for people to both find and learn about sculptures in the city of Chicago. Information about these sculptures—that are always available to the public—will be accessible with this program. People who take interest in art outside the walls of the city’s museums will be provided information and photos of various sculptures, their artists, and directions to other nearby sculptures. Beyond the Museum is web-based, and compatible with any computer, tablet, or smartphone. The map displays each piece available along with a QR (quick response) code that directs the viewers to pertinent information on the website. There is also a QR code at the location at each piece that does the same. The map or location may act as a starting point for a self-guided art tour. This is designed to provide information about the sculptures as quickly as possible with the technology available. Beyond the Museum is an experience for anyone that is inspired to learn more about art beyond museum walls.
