Miro's Chicago

Joan Miró

1981

Miro’s Chicago, originally named The Sun, The Moon and One Star, is a 39-foot tall mixed media sculpture by Joan Miro. Miro was commissioned originally by the Brunswick Corporation in 1969, but decided not to proceed due to the cost. In 1979, Jane Byrne, the mayor of Chicago at the time, found funds for the steel, mesh, and concrete sculpture.
